Pastra is a small picturesque village in the southeastern part of the island, 25 km from Argostoli. It is built at the foot of Mount Ainos and has 170 residents.
There are no touristic accommodations in the village, but visitors can stay in the very touristic village of Skala, which is located just 5 km from Pastra and visit its wonderful beach as well.
The most important sight of the village is the Church of Panagia Gravaliotissa, also called Lady with lilies, because in May the women of the village cut from the gardens of the church, the blooming lilies and place them to the icon of the Virgin Mary; they wither and they bloom again from the 1st of August to the 15th of August when there is the feast of the Assumption of Mary. The sacred icon of Virgin Mary is in the church, since 1720 AD.
