Komitata is a village in northwestern Kefalonia that used to be part of the Erissos municipality. Komitata of Kefalonia gained worldwide fame thanks to the Hollywood film “Captain Corelli’s Mandolin”. Many scenes were shot on the magnificent beach of Chorgotas, which is located just below the village.
If you’re looking for something less known, the neighboring beach of Agia Sophia will not disappoint you.
The village itself of Komitata is picturesque and beautiful, surrounded by trees, with a lovely view of the west coast of Ithaca, and even on the coast of Central Greece.
